Specific Marketplace Privacy Policy
Specific Marketplace
Effective date: June 24, 2026
At Specific, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information about you when you visit our website at usespecific.com, register as a contributor, accept tasks, or otherwise use our services (the “Services”). Throughout this Privacy Policy, “we,” “our,” “us,” and “Specific” refer to Specific Marketplace.
By using or accessing our Services in any manner, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined below, and you hereby consent that we will collect, use, and disclose your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
Your use of Specific is at all times subject to our Contributor Terms of Use, which incorporates this Privacy Policy. Any terms we use in this Policy without defining them have the definitions given to them in the Terms of Use. This Privacy Policy is also closely related to our Data Use Policy, which explains how we treat the recordings, code, transcripts, and other materials you submit through the Services (collectively, “Submissions”). Depending on the task you accept, Submissions may be processed in either anonymized form or in identifiable form. For voice-cloning tasks and certain other identifiable-data tasks, Submissions (including your voice, voiceprint, and likeness) are processed by us, and may be licensed or sold to AI labs and other buyers, in identifiable form attributable to you, only where you have given your separate, affirmative, task-level consent at the time you accept the task. For other tasks, Submissions are stripped of personally identifiable information before they leave our systems. This Privacy Policy focuses on Personal Data we collect about you as a contributor; the Data Use Policy explains how we treat the contents of your Submissions.
As we continually work to improve our Services, we may need to change this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will alert you of material changes by placing a notice on the Specific website, by sending you an email, and/or by some other means. If you use the Services after any changes to the Privacy Policy have been posted, that means you agree to all of the changes.
What this Privacy Policy covers
This Privacy Policy covers how we treat Personal Data that we gather when you access or use our Services. “Personal Data” means any information that identifies or relates to a particular individual and also includes information referred to as “personally identifiable information,” “personal information,” or “sensitive personal information” under applicable data privacy laws, rules, or regulations. This Privacy Policy does not cover the practices of companies we do not own or control or people we do not manage.
Personal Data we collect
We may collect the categories of Personal Data below from contributors.
Profile and contact data
Includes your first and last name, email address, phone number, languages spoken, and any skill or expertise tags you provide. We collect this to provide, customize, and improve the Services; operate the contributor marketplace and process payouts; correspond with you; and for fraud prevention, security, and debugging.
Account credentials
Includes your Specific User ID and authentication tokens. We do not store your password in plaintext. We collect this to provide access to your account and secure the Services.
Payout data
Includes financial account information, payment method, last 4 digits of any card on file, billing address, and tax-related information. We collect this to process your payouts, comply with tax reporting requirements, and prevent fraud.
Government-issued ID and identity-verification data
Where we collect government-issued ID or identity-verification data for KYC or anti-fraud purposes, we use it to verify your identity and eligibility to receive payouts and to comply with anti-money-laundering and tax laws.
Voice recordings, voiceprints, and other biometric data
For voice-cloning tasks and certain other identifiable-data tasks, we collect voice recordings (including scripted recordings and live two-person conversation recordings) and the derived voiceprint, speech patterns, and other identifying characteristics that can reasonably be used to identify you. We collect this data only after you have given your separate, affirmative, task-level consent at the time you accept the task. For live multi-party conversation recordings, our product additionally requires every participant to give affirmative in-product consent before recording begins, and any participant may revoke consent and end recording at any time by leaving the call. Voice recordings and derived voiceprints constitute “biometric information” and “sensitive personal information” under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), “sensitive personal data” under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, and analogous categories under other applicable laws. We use this data to deliver the contracted task to the relevant buyer (including AI labs purchasing voice-cloning datasets), to operate and improve the Services, and for the purposes described in our Data Use Policy.
Submission metadata
Includes task ID, validation results, file format, file size, duration, language tag, and timestamps associated with your Submissions. The contents of Submissions themselves are governed by our Data Use Policy, not this Privacy Policy.
Communications data
Includes messages you send to support, survey responses, and your communication preferences. We collect this to respond to you and to improve the Services.
Device and IP data
Includes IP address, device ID, operating system, browser type, and crash logs. We collect this to provide, customize, and improve the Services; operate the contributor marketplace; correspond with you; and for fraud prevention, security, and debugging.
Web analytics and approximate geolocation data
Includes page interactions, referring webpage or source, non-identifiable request IDs, IP-address-based location, and similar approximate location signals. We collect this to provide, customize, and improve the Services; market the Services; localize the Services; prevent fraud; and comply with sanctions and export-control laws.
Our commercial or business purposes for collecting Personal Data
We collect Personal Data to:
-
Create and manage contributor accounts.
-
Route tasks to contributors and process Submissions.
-
Calculate and disburse payouts and issue tax forms where required.
-
Provide support and assistance.
-
Improve the Services, including testing, research, internal analytics, and product development.
-
Personalize Services, website content, and communications.
-
Provide fraud protection, security, and debugging.
-
Tell contributors about new task types, payout opportunities, and product updates.
-
Measure and improve the performance of our marketing.
-
Respond to messages and send information about Specific or the Services.
Each category of Personal Data may also be collected, used, and disclosed with government authorities, law enforcement, or other parties to meet legal requirements, enforce legal terms, prevent or investigate security incidents or prohibited activities, protect rights and safety, respond to claims, and resolve disputes.
We will not collect additional categories of Personal Data or use Personal Data for materially different, unrelated, or incompatible purposes without providing notice or obtaining consent.
Sources of Personal Data
We collect Personal Data from you when you create an account, complete your contributor profile, update payout information, voluntarily provide information in free-form text boxes, surveys, or support messages, or use the Services. We may also receive information from third-party credentials and providers, identity-verification, anti-fraud, tax-compliance, and payment providers.
SMS communications
If you provide your phone number and consent to receive SMS messages, we may send automated text messages related to your account, including notifications about new tasks, account activity, and important service-related updates. Message frequency varies based on account activity. Message and data rates may apply. We do not sell or share phone numbers used for SMS communications with third parties for their own marketing purposes. You may opt out by replying STOP to any message. For assistance, contact us at sid@usebear.ai.
How we disclose your Personal Data
We disclose Personal Data to service providers and other parties that help us provide the Services or perform business functions on our behalf. They include hosting, technology, communication, authentication, security, fraud-prevention, analytics, support, customer-service, identity-verification, KYC, and payment-processing providers.
Analytics partners may provide analytics on web traffic and usage of the Services.
Posters and AI labs that license datasets from us receive Submissions in the form that the relevant task contemplates. For voice-cloning tasks and other identifiable-data tasks, this includes receiving your voice recordings, voiceprint, and other identifying characteristics in identifiable form attributable to you. We license or sell Personal Data of this kind to posters and AI labs only where you have given your separate, affirmative, task-level consent at the time you accept the task. For all other tasks, Submissions provided to posters and AI labs are stripped of personally identifiable information and identifiers in accordance with our Data Use Policy.
We may disclose Personal Data to meet legal obligations, and Personal Data may be transferred to a third party if we undergo a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or other transaction in which that third party assumes control of our business.
Aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized data
We may create aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized data from Personal Data, including by removing information that makes the data personally identifiable to a particular contributor. We may use and disclose such data for lawful business purposes, including to analyze, build, improve, and promote the Services, provided that we will not disclose such data in a manner that could identify you.
Tracking tools, advertising, and opt-out
The Services use cookies and similar technologies such as pixel tags, web beacons, clear GIFs, and JavaScript (collectively, “Cookies”) to recognize your browser, analyze trends, learn about our user base, and operate and improve the Services. The Services do not support “Do Not Track” requests sent from a browser at this time.
We may use Essential Cookies, Performance/Analytical Cookies, and Retargeting/Advertising Cookies. You can decide whether or not to accept Cookies through your internet browser’s settings. To find out more about Cookies generally, including how to manage and delete them, please visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org/.
Session replay technology
We may use session replay technology to identify and resolve issues, monitor and analyze how you use the Services, better understand contributor behavior, and improve the Services. Session replay focuses on how you interact with our application UI; it does not capture the contents of your Submissions, which are governed by our Data Use Policy. By continuing to use the Services, you consent to the use of session replay technology.
Data security
We seek to protect your Personal Data from unauthorized access, use, and disclosure using appropriate physical, technical, organizational, and administrative security measures based on the type of Personal Data and how we are processing that data. Raw Submissions are encrypted at rest and access within Specific is limited to authorized personnel with a need to know. No method of transmitting data over the internet or storing data is completely secure.
Data retention
We retain Personal Data for as long as necessary to provide the Services or perform our business or commercial purposes for collecting it. In some cases, we retain Personal Data for longer if necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, collect amounts owed, or as otherwise permitted or required by applicable law. We may retain information in anonymous or aggregated form where that information would not identify you personally. For voice recordings, derived voiceprints, and other identifying biometric data collected for voice-cloning and similar identifiable-data tasks, we retain that data while it remains in active use by us or by buyers that have licensed datasets containing that data, and we delete or de-identify our retained copies on your verified deletion or consent-withdrawal request, subject to applicable legal-hold and statutory retention obligations. We maintain consent and withdrawal records for the period required by applicable law for purposes of demonstrating that valid consent was obtained.
Personal Data of children
The Services are intended for adult contributors. Because the Services collect biometric and other sensitive personal information, we verify contributor age at sign-up using a combination of date-of-birth confirmation and, where available, identity verification through our identity-verification providers. We do not knowingly collect or solicit Personal Data from individuals under 18 years of age. If we learn we have collected Personal Data from a person under 18, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe a person under 18 may have provided Personal Data to us, please contact us at sid@usebear.ai.
Jurisdiction-specific privacy rights
California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the “CCPA”), gives you the following rights with respect to Personal Information we collect about you: the right to know what Personal Information we have collected, used, disclosed, sold, or shared about you; the right to delete Personal Information we have collected about you; the right to correct inaccurate Personal Information; the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your Personal Information; the right to limit our use and disclosure of your sensitive Personal Information; the right to receive a portable copy of your Personal Information; and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Sale and sharing of Personal Information. If you accept a voice-cloning task or other identifiable-data task, Specific will license or sell your voice recordings, voiceprint, and other identifying characteristics to AI labs and other buyers in identifiable form attributable to you. Under the CCPA, this constitutes a “sale” and/or a “share” of your Personal Information. You may opt out of any future sale or sharing of your Personal Information at any time by clicking the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in our website footer, by following the instructions in your account settings, or by contacting us at sid@usebear.ai. We process Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals received from California residents’ browsers and browser extensions as valid requests to opt out of the sale and sharing of Personal Information associated with the browser or device from which the signal is sent.
Sensitive Personal Information. Voice recordings, voiceprints, and other biometric information used to identify a consumer are “sensitive Personal Information” under the CCPA. You have the right to direct us to limit our use of your sensitive Personal Information to the purposes that are necessary to perform the Services or as otherwise permitted by the CCPA. To exercise this right, contact us at sid@usebear.ai. Withdrawing your consent to the voice-cloning use of your voice recordings will end our use of that sensitive Personal Information for voice-cloning purposes; please see the Contributor Terms of Use for the consequences of withdrawal as to data we have already delivered to buyers and as to models already trained.
How to exercise your rights. To submit a request to know, delete, correct, port, opt out of sale or sharing, or limit the use of your sensitive Personal Information, contact us at sid@usebear.ai or via the contact methods identified at the end of this Privacy Policy. We will verify your request before fulfilling it. You may also designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, including through a browser, browser extension, or device setting that reflects your privacy choice. If we deny your request, you may appeal that decision by replying to our response within 60 days.
California Shine the Light. In addition to the CCPA rights above, California residents may contact us to prevent disclosure of Personal Data to third parties for such third parties’ direct marketing purposes. To submit such a request, please contact us at sid@usebear.ai. Our Services do not support “Do Not Track” requests sent from a browser at this time.
Financial-incentive notice (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.125). The compensation we pay you for accepting and submitting a Submission in identifiable form for a voice-cloning or other paid identifiable-data task is a financial incentive offered under California Civil Code §1798.125(b). The material terms are: (i) you provide your voice recording, voiceprint, or other identifying characteristics in identifiable form attributable to you, for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and the Contributor Terms of Use; (ii) we pay you the per-task amount disclosed at the time you accept the task; (iii) you opt in to the financial incentive by affirmatively accepting the task; (iv) you may withdraw consent or request deletion at any time using the contact channels in this Privacy Policy or the Contributor Terms of Use; (v) if you withdraw or request deletion before we have delivered your Submission, or any dataset that includes your Submission, to a buyer, the transaction is unwound — we will delete your Submission and the corresponding payout will be recovered from your account or invoiced to you; (vi) if you withdraw or request deletion after we have delivered your Submission to a buyer, withdrawal will end our further commercial use of identifiable copies of the Submission but we will not require you to repay any amount, and we will request — but not contractually require — that the buyer cease further use, except where applicable law imposes that obligation on the buyer directly. We have determined that the value of an identifiable Submission to our business is reasonably related to the per-task amount paid. We do not use financial-incentive practices that are unjust, unreasonable, coercive, or usurious in nature.
Other U.S. state residents
Residents of other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and others) may have rights similar to those described above for California residents, including the rights to access, delete, correct, and port their Personal Data, to opt out of sale, targeted advertising, and certain profiling activities, and (in many states) to provide affirmative opt-in consent before we process sensitive data such as biometric information. To exercise any such right, contact us at sid@usebear.ai. We process universal opt-out signals (such as Global Privacy Control) where required by your state’s law. Nevada residents may direct us not to sell certain covered information as defined in Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 603A.
India residents (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023)
If you are located in India, this Privacy Policy is the notice required under section 5 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”). Your acceptance of this Privacy Policy, together with your separate task-level acceptance of voice-cloning or other identifiable-data tasks, constitutes your free, specific, informed, unconditional, and unambiguous consent under section 6 of the DPDP Act to the collection, processing, and (where applicable) cross-border transfer of your personal data, including your voice, voiceprint, and likeness, for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and our Contributor Terms of Use.
As a Data Principal under the DPDP Act, you have the right to obtain confirmation and a summary of your personal data being processed, the right to correction and erasure of your personal data, the right to grievance redressal, and the right to nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity. You may withdraw your consent at any time, with the same ease with which you gave it, by contacting us at sid@usebear.ai or through the in-product withdrawal mechanism. On withdrawal of consent, we will cease processing your personal data, and our data processors will cease processing on our behalf, unless retention or processing is required or authorized by applicable law. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before the withdrawal. The downstream consequences of withdrawal as to data we have already delivered to AI labs and other buyers, and as to AI models that have already been trained on your data, are described in our Contributor Terms of Use. Where you have been paid for a voice-cloning or other paid identifiable-data task, the financial consequences of withdrawal depend on whether your Submission has been delivered to a buyer: withdrawal before delivery unwinds the transaction (including recovery of the corresponding payment); withdrawal after delivery does not require repayment. Specific’s Grievance Officer for purposes of the DPDP Act is reachable at sid@usebear.ai. You may also lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India.
Mexico residents (Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties, LFPDPPP)
If you are located in Mexico, the Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de los Particulares, the “LFPDPPP”) and its regulations govern our processing of your personal data. This Privacy Policy is the privacy notice (aviso de privacidad) required under Articles 15–17 of the LFPDPPP, with Specific Marketplace (39 Tehama, San Francisco, California, United States; sid@usebear.ai) acting as the responsible party (responsable). Your voice recordings, voiceprint, and other biometric data collected in connection with voice-cloning and other identifiable-data tasks constitute sensitive personal data (datos personales sensibles) under Article 3.VI of the LFPDPPP; your affirmative acceptance of the relevant task at the time you accept it constitutes your express written consent under Article 8 of the LFPDPPP. You have the right to access, rectify, cancel, and oppose the processing of your personal data (the “ARCO rights”), and to revoke your consent at any time, by contacting us at sid@usebear.ai; we will respond within the timeframes required by the LFPDPPP. By accepting this Privacy Policy and the relevant task, you consent under Article 36 of the LFPDPPP to the transfer of your personal data to service providers and buyers located outside Mexico, including in the United States, for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. If you believe we have processed your personal data in a manner inconsistent with the LFPDPPP, you may file a complaint with the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Personal Data Protection (Instituto Nacional de Transparencia, Acceso a la Información y Protección de Datos Personales, “INAI”) or any successor data-protection authority.
Argentina residents (Personal Data Protection Act, Law 25.326)
If you are located in Argentina, the Personal Data Protection Act (Ley 25.326 de Protección de los Datos Personales, the “PDPA”) and its implementing regulations govern our processing of your personal data. Specific Marketplace (39 Tehama, San Francisco, California, United States; sid@usebear.ai) is the responsible party (responsable del tratamiento). Voice recordings and voiceprints collected in connection with voice-cloning and other identifiable-data tasks constitute sensitive personal data under Article 7 of the PDPA; your acceptance of this Privacy Policy together with your separate affirmative acceptance of the relevant task constitutes your free, express, and informed consent under Articles 5 and 7 of the PDPA. You have the right under Articles 14–16 of the PDPA to access your personal data, to rectify inaccurate data, to request suppression (deletion) of your personal data, and to oppose certain processing; you may exercise these rights and withdraw consent at any time by contacting us at sid@usebear.ai. The United States and certain other jurisdictions where our service providers and buyers are located have not been designated by the Argentine data-protection authority as providing adequate protection for purposes of Article 12 of the PDPA; by accepting this Privacy Policy and the relevant task, you give your express informed consent to the transfer of your personal data to those jurisdictions for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. If you believe we have processed your personal data in a manner inconsistent with the PDPA, you may file a complaint with the Access to Public Information Agency (Agencia de Acceso a la Información Pública, “AAIP”).
El Salvador residents (constitutional habeas data; Personal Data Protection Law)
If you are located in El Salvador, the constitutional right of habeas data under Article 2 of the Constitution and El Salvador’s Personal Data Protection Law (Ley de Protección de Datos Personales) and any successor or implementing regulations govern our processing of your personal data. As of the effective date of this Privacy Policy, the regulatory framework continues to develop, and elements of this notice may be supplemented as implementing rules are finalized. Specific Marketplace (39 Tehama, San Francisco, California, United States; sid@usebear.ai) is the responsible party (responsable del tratamiento). Voice recordings and voiceprints collected in connection with voice-cloning and other identifiable-data tasks constitute sensitive personal data; your acceptance of this Privacy Policy together with your separate affirmative acceptance of the relevant task constitutes your free, express, and informed consent to the collection, processing, and transfer of that sensitive data for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. You have the right to access your personal data, to request rectification or deletion, to oppose processing, and to withdraw consent at any time by contacting us at sid@usebear.ai. As part of providing the Services, we transfer your personal data to service providers and buyers located outside El Salvador, including in the United States; by accepting this Privacy Policy and the relevant task, you consent to these cross-border transfers for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Angola residents (Personal Data Protection Law, Law 22/11)
If you are located in Angola, the Personal Data Protection Law (Lei n.º 22/11, de 17 de Junho, the “PDPL”) governs our processing of your personal data. Specific Marketplace (39 Tehama, San Francisco, California, United States; sid@usebear.ai) is the responsible party (responsável pelo tratamento). Voice recordings and voiceprints collected in connection with voice-cloning and other identifiable-data tasks constitute sensitive personal data under the PDPL; your acceptance of this Privacy Policy together with your separate affirmative acceptance of the relevant task constitutes your free, express, and informed consent under the PDPL. You have the right to access your personal data, to request rectification or deletion, to oppose processing, and to withdraw consent at any time by contacting us at sid@usebear.ai. The transfer of your personal data outside Angola, including to the United States where our service providers and buyers are located, is subject to the PDPL’s cross-border-transfer requirements; by accepting this Privacy Policy and the relevant task, you give your express informed consent to such transfers for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. If you believe we have processed your personal data in a manner inconsistent with the PDPL, you may file a complaint with the Data Protection Agency (Agência de Proteção de Dados, “APD”).
